Replace your overheated factory intercooler with the VRSF 7.5″ Race Intercooler Kit to get the most out of your N54 or N55. We designed this kit to be one of the best performing intercoolers available for your BMW with special attention to quality and performance while maintaining a reasonable price point. Our intercoolers allow for higher HP gains, mainly due to their ability to keep intake temps down while preventing heat soak which is a common problem with the factory intercooler. This results in a more power and increased reliability with reduced chances of pre-detonation & knock.
Intercooler Core
The most important component of any intercooler is the core. The core cools the charged air from the turbo before it enters the engine and the OEM BMW tube and fin intercooler is designed to support low boost levels and air flow. Once boost levels and air flow are increased, the OEM unit is easily overwhelmed and can not keep up with the cooling demands of a tune running more than OEM boost levels. This results in heat soak which will result in a power loss and a higher potential for pre-detonation in the upper RPM range.
We remedy this problem with our ultra high density 1100hp custom bar and plate core design which utilizes a staggered and offset internal and external fin pack. Our core has been carefully tuned to provide the the best intake temperature reduction while maintaining minimal pressure drop. Our bar & plate core is also much more durable than the OEM tube and fin core, with a better ability to withstand rocks and other debris. This intercooler was specifically designed for upgraded turbo cars running larger twin turbos or single turbos. Our 7.5″ FMIC has been involved in many record breaking builds and is currently featured on Motiv’s world record breaking, highest horsepower N54 @ 1100WHP.
Finish & Construction
Our VRSF intercooler features CFD backed, cast aluminum end tanks for improved flow in comparison to sheet metal end tanks. Our one piece seamless cast end tanks are also more durable than comparable sheet metal or multiple piece end tanks. Every VRSF intercooler is finished in a beautiful, uniform, bright silver coating which helps protect the intercooler from corrosion and ensures your VRSF intercooler holds up to the elements, no matter where you live.

Installation
All VRSF intercoolers feature tabs that allow the retention of the factory fan shroud. We include everything required to replace the OEM intercooler, including custom molded couplers and stainless steel t-bolt clamps necessary for installation. The race intercooler requires trimming of the black plastic shroud behind the bumper. The bumper does not require trimming. Each VRSF intercooler is hand finished and pressure tested to ensure a high quality, leak free experience. Our intercoolers fit both Left Hand Drive (LHD) & Right Hand Drive (RHD) Models as well as all XI models.

Below is a 4th gear pull @ 35 PSI. This car made 790whp and the ambient temperature was 94 degrees. As you can see there is a minimal 11 degree rise in intake temperatures and the boost maintains steadily throughout the RPM range providing adequate flow for the PTE 6466 turbo.

Just installed the 7.5” vrsf race intercooler on my bmw 135i n54. The install was challenging although some great videos available to guide you nevertheless there is a a bit of cutting and customising to make it fit. It is heavy and getting it to fit with the jack is tricky with the car lifted on stands, blocks of wood required and good balance not to mention the challenges with the hoses and those dam V clams that can only use open spanners once the nut is down. All that said I can’t stop smiling the car is finally breathing properly and just wants to go really amazing transformation from the stock IC. I’m in Australia where the temps get high in summer so this FMIC makes a massive difference.

This intercooler is AMAZING !! I’ve been testing the IAT Temp trying to get speed in the highway and not pushing the car to hard to get the lowest number possible and guys believe it or not, I am getting 4 to 7 degrees above ambient. At WOT, I haven’t get numbers higher than 11 above ambient in Georgia hot weather. And if your question is power related, By “My feelings dyno” I feel at least 20hp more. To be honest I think is way more because I am FBO besides LPFP and inlets and the car was running weird before this intercooler. I went from stock to Stepped Race so the difference is brutal.

I have to start off by saying I had the 7” VRSF intercooler installed. I was extremely happy with that one, but since I’m increasing power I wanted to go to the 7.5”. Right out of the box you can see the size difference. The construction of this intercooler is great. You can tell they take great pride in making this product. The instal is easy, bolts right in with minimum cutting. The look of this intercooler is crazy. My IAT are amazing, especially since I live in south FL. Even under excessive hot temperate outside the IAT doesn’t increase a lot over ambient. Overall a great product and I highly recommend it.

Great FMIC, awesome cooling!
So I’m on my 3rd aftermarket FMIC on my N54 335i. I started with the stock but after tuning it wasn’t enough. So I got the VRSF 5” stepped. That worked great until I upgraded my snails. I then upgraded to the VRSF 7” high density core unit. It was great as well, but after upgrading the car further, and due to me running a stock e90 front bumper (which leaves like all of 3” vertical exposed to direct airflow). Ultimately I decided to go with this 7.5” race FMIC and I couldn’t be happier! My IATs in Norma driving are generally ~9-10 degrees above ambient. Even after 1/2mi runs, it doesn’t heat up much and cools quickly. Even with my stock bumper, there’s way more airflow and it looks better! Installed like a charm, little bit of dremel work on the shroud and it was in! I’d recommend this to anyone running ST or upgraded twins, you can’t go wrong with this FMIC!

After doing a great deal of research I chose this intercooler because it features high density cores and has cast end tanks, which provide better flow characteristics than sheetmetal end tanks that feature sharp angles. Other than the quality of the intercooler, I was most impressed with how quickly it arrived on my doorstep – only seven days from order placement to arrival! Buy this intercooler and you will not need to upgrade again.

Nobody will argue that Buschur and ETS are top of the line products. VRSF’s 7.5″ HD Race is just as good as those.
I’ve driven modified turbo cars since 1995. Starting with DSM’s and using Buschur FMIC setups (4 of them), moving to EVO’s and ETS FMIC’s (2 of them), then on to 335i’s (3 of these) and ETS and VRSF FMIC’s. Nobody will argue that Buschur and ETS are top of the line products. VRSF’s 7.5″ HD Race is just as good as those. I never looked at their lower end products, but the HD line is definitely G2G.

Keeps my single turbo IAT in check
I run the VRSF 7.5″ race intercooler in Arizona. This intercooler keeps my single turbo IAT in check so well, that I forget to look at it on logs… This is the THIRD intercooler I put on my car so do yourself a favor and buy the 7″ HD or 7.5″ race from the start. You will not need to upgrade any further.

7.5″ Race intercooler installed on a BMW E60 535i
So at last i can confirm that the VRSF 7.5″ Race intercooler fits on the E60 !
All the steps are the same as the installation guide of the 7″ FMIC , just a little more cutting on the fan shroud and drilling out the rivet for the ambient temp sensor bracket , which can be done easily.
Installation was straight forward and fitment is perfect.
