For your 2007-2010 BMW 135i, 1M, 335i & 335IS with the N54 Engine
We are proud to introduce our VRSF 3″ High flow Downpipes for the N54 135i & 335i. These 3″ downpipes are THE best bang for the buck mod available, with gains from 30hp & 35tq when when paired with a DME remap. By replacing the restrictive catalytic converters in the factory N54 downpipes, back pressure is significantly reduced which results in faster spool, an increase in power & a more aggressive exhaust note.
Rather than necking down closer to the turbos like most of our competitors, our 3″ N54 downpipes feature a full 3″ design up to the 2.5″ flange which allows an increase of flow. These downpipes are hand crafted from SS304 stainless steel and include a lifetime warranty & our “No Hassle” satisfaction guarantee which includes fitment & defects. Each kit includes heavy duty, grade 12 bolts, nuts and washers along with two mid pipe gaskets. We also offer additional installation accessories such as the turbo to downpipe clamp and gasket available for purchase separately. While the turbo to downpipe clamps and gaskets aren’t required for installation, they are highly recommended if your original accessories have more than 50-60k miles.
We also offer a ceramic coated version which is made to withstand temperatures up to 1800F. Please note that while we do offer a lifetime warranty on the downpipes, we only offer a 1 year warranty on the ceramic coating services due to the nature of the coating.

I went with the cerakote option and they were delivered exactly as pictured. Fitment of the V2 downpipes was excellent once I got around to the install. The only suspect area for clearance appears to be an external torx bolt for the motor mount and VRSF includes a replacement bolt (Allen head) to get more clearance which takes care of it. They should really include instructions to clarify what that bolt is for but I certainly appreciate having everything that I needed to do the install correctly on the first go.

Decided to replace DP’s while replacing the clutch. Fit and finish is very good, stock exhaust fit on perfectly. Paired with the MHD tune, the turbos spool much quicker. The exhaust is slightly louder than stock but not obnoxiously so, but the exhaust burble is much more pronounced. Only concern is the downstream O2 sensor location is different than stock and takes a little extra effort to secure the sensor’s cables.

I installed these downpipes without an upgraded catback exhaust. Fitment was great and shipping was fast from Florida to NY. Welds don’t look bad. They are not that loud under normal driving conditions from inside and outside the car. The noises are noticeable WOT but it’s not loud. Once tuned, these will allow the car to spool faster and you can hear the spool which is nice.
Hoping to pair this soon with the VRSF catback exhaust to relieve more back pressure, lighten the weight of the car, and have more awesome turbo inline 6 noises.

Look and sound great. Fairly easily to install except for one bolt contacting the pipe before it could be fully torqued. Definitely unable to flip the bolt around. Could be something I’m doing wrong, but seems to have the flange welded too close to the pipe itself. Other side has much more clearance so flange might just be off center. I threw some extra washers on the bolt which solved the issue.

I didn’t want to spend the money on a VRSF and went via a different brand that was about $80 cheaper. Fitment was not good and the downpipes would either rub on themselves or the subframe. The other brand tried to make it right by sending me another set for free that were their upgraded ones. They fit even worse somehow. I got a full refund and ended up going with the VRSF ones and am happy I did so although i should have just bit the bullet first. Fitment was perfect. If i wasn’t doing the work myself I would have spent a fortune in install/uninstall work 3 times. If you are on the fence about these, just do it, especially if you are paying a shop to install them. Sound is awesome, stage 2 boost levels are intoxicating and I am very happy I went with these.

I will say the install on these is not fun especially if you have big forearms. But the reward is well worth the time spent. Only recommendation is that you must go back and fourth between the v-bands and the mid pipes to make sure the mid-pipe connection is secure. I developed a small exhaust leak at the mid-pipe that I could not get rid of and it was just a positioning issue. Great product at an amazing price.

These pipes were very easy to install minus the vbands they can be alittle tricky. After installing them I fired it up. Its not to loud. Its quiet at idle and when you hit the gas it sounds amazing. The turbos spool up so fast and you can hear them even more than before. Fitment is spot on as well. The welds are so clean and nice as well.

The v2 fitment is near perfect and is a solid build quality. The only thing that prolonged my install was getting the clamps to sit perfectly between the turbos and the mouth of the downpipes. You have to turn the pipes for the connection to perfectly fit the midpipe.
Would definitely recommend these pipes for anyone looking to swap out the stocker DP’s.

I’m really impressed by these DP’s. Helix Motorsports in Philadelphia installed them, and while I was prepared for poor fitment these certainly defied my expectations. The pipes went right in with no issues, and dang do they look good from underneath! The stock exhaust, with CAN flap open, sounds incredibly good. Now I can hold off on buying a whole exhaust system for a little while longer! Thanks for making an epic quality product without charging an epic sum. These fit really good. These fit really good. I previewed the AR downpipes installation video on YouTube before install. The video was very helpful. Things to note: Go ahead and cut a wrench in half for the O2 sensors as recommended in the video- I thought i could get by without and couldn’t. When you drop the steering rack be careful to not bend or bang and of the hard lines. I sprung a leak and had to fix it because I was not as careful as I should have been. I used an articulating, extension magnet to help replace the 2, 2bolt exhaust flange hardware- saved me from a bit a frustration. One of the bolts, had to be flipped to get it in the hole and I had to add about .060 spacer to keep it from bottoming out on the pipe – depending on consistency of manufacture you may need a couple extra washers.
I used MAP 5 in JB4 and quickly found out I need spark plugs.

Had the VRSF catless downpipes put on yesterday. After my first fail fitment with another company I was super nervous to see how it turned out. Picked up my car and the mechanic had nothing but good things to say about the fitment and sound. Initial impressions on the sound increase, slightly louder than stock but prominent turbo increase spooling noise.
There is zero clearance issue with pipe touching support frame or subframe. No vibrations or touching of any sort ! Super happy about that. For the price you guys have made one hell of a product and I just cant see why anyone would spend double for such an item.
The car throughout the rev range sounds so much better I am very happy with the way the car has excepted the updated downpipe Cobb tune. Have had zero issues with misfire or rough idle. Look forward to breaking them in some more.
My car also supports the VRSF 7″ FMIC as well together with the downpipes its quite the animal 🙂

MY FIRST IMPRESSION: Well…………. WOW
First of all, I would like to say that VR Speed Factory is a great company to deal with. They have great customer support, and the shipping was outstanding. I ordered the downpipes on Wednesday, and received them Friday. The box was very well packaged, and secure. Came with both downpipes, and the gaskets and hardware. The welds were very nice, and the flanges were as good as OEM.
The fitment was honestly beautiful, and the hardest part about the install is breaking loose all the old hardware (my car has 60k on the clock). The working space is very tight and can be frustrating ( yes you will have to move the steering rack), but it’s extremely easy to do. After installing the downpipes, I started the car put the jb4 in map 2, let the car get warm, and went for a drive . Everything was good to go no leaks or fitment issues.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION: Well…………. WOW……….. The first thing I noticed was the increased throttle response, and its not just increased by a little bit. Installing these downpipes really shows you how restrictive the stock downpipes are on the n54. The turbos spool a lot faster in all RPM ranges, you don’t just feel the difference, you hear it as well!!!!! The turbos are very audible, and you can hear them just accelerating normally. I find myself taking joy rides just to hear the turbos spool LOL. VRSF made a hell of a product for the money. JUST BUY THEM……. You seriously won’t be disappointed. Installing these 3 inch catless downpipes, and switching to map 2 will give you a good kick!

The weld and quality of the pipes are impressive.
Must say, the weld and quality of the pipes are impressive. In terms of the install, the fitment was perfect and the install was almost flawless. Only issue was with the longer DP and the sharp bend it has when connecting to the mid-pipes, which was easily solved as shown in the pipes.
Car picked up approximately 20whp and 25wtq without any tuning modifications.
Overall, very happy with this product.

Just got my dp installed over the weekend, and love them! Welds are nice, fitment was on point and love the cut down in lag from turbos. Also sounds very good when you get into boost, even whistles as low 2k. Overall welds could be better, but then again Tiago at vr-speed factory gives you a LIFE TIME WARRANTY!!! I don’t think you can beat that especially for the price compared to the AR design. Also, since there is the life time warranty, you have nothing to worry about.

Let’s start off by saying that I couldn’t be any happier with Tiago and the products with an extremely fast shipping time!
Recently installed the VRSF 7″ FMIC & 3″ Cat-less DP. First of all customer support from Tiago is simply greatness. Had a local shop in ATL install my DP and vehicle was in and out of the bay in hour and half, as the tech mention it was a breeze to install with simply zero issues, and holly crap did I pick up some seat of the pants TQ .
That same night in my garage I replace my 6″ AA IC with the VRSF 7″ and since the trimming was already done it was really a little over hour to install and make sure all was well and tight with a more Aggressive look from the front grill and also the couplers and clamps provided by VRSF are by far superior.
As for cooling the bigger 7″ comes on top ( obviously is a bigger 7″ IC ) specially during long high speed pulls confirming what TIAGO had stated. What I really like about the vrsf is how quick the IAT comes down after the vehicle is rolling from being stopped in traffic .
All in all I am a happy camper and extremely happy with the switch .

Thank you for the downpipes, installer said it fitted like a glove. I was scared that I was going to spend over $600 to get it installed but it took them only 1.5 hours to install it.
I already had the OEM BMW performance exhaust but it didn’t satisfy my ears after driving my g35 w/ HKS exhaust for a couple years before this. After these DP’s were in, it surprisingly sounded better than my g35 which I thought was impossible.

For the money, it can’t be beat. It comes with all gaskets, hardware, has a polished finish, and fits perfectly which makes installation a breeze.
With DPs, you also reap the benefits of a throatier exhaust note. Scaled, I would rate it a notch up from stock which is perfect for someone wanting a tab bit more without it being obvious to others.
Once you’ve had your fun with the DPs, look into getting an intercooler. I purchased the VRSF 7″ intercooler and it rocked just like the DPs. IAT with the stock IC increase on average about 40 degress from 3rd to mid 4th gear. With the VRSF IC, average IAT were 18 degrees. I was also able to maintain target boost levels on the OpenFlash Tablet which I couldn’t do with the stock IC. It was always 1psi lower throught the power band.

Just recently pulled the trigger on some bolt on pieces with the most recent addition being the OFT tablet.
All I can say is WOW!
The catless downpipes without the tune were just embarrassing noise amplifiers…no fault of their own but the N54 is very mechanical and raspy without the cats.
After running my battery almost dead during the flash process (it dipped as low as 10v) and recharging it back to life, upon start up I was greeted by a much deeper sound with the OTS Stage 0 map loaded.
Must be the wastegate parameters or something but there’s a noticeable lack of rattle with the tune.
Anyway with Indiana getting slammed with snow and rain it’s been hard to really get to run the car hard, but it’s been fun nonetheless. Lots of wheelspin and sideways action nailing the throttle in 3rd at 60mph…
Can’t wait to see how the other OTS maps run and maybe even a mild ethanol map since I can get my hands on the stuff locally.
Props to VRSF for dealing with my mechanics and delivering a top notch product. Even my mechanics commented on how nice the downpipes looked and fitted, particularly for the value.

I have been really happy with mine. When you install, make sure you check the DIYs, i recommend bending back the heat shield for extra clearance, otherwise you will have a little rattle at low RPM from the pipes tapping it.

VRSF Downpipes – RHD N54 Review
I just had the VRSF Downpipes fitted to my Right Hand Drive 135i. They were one of the few that were listed as fitting RHD without the need to relocate the O2 sensors or any other modification. They were literally bolt on. The mechanic was impressed with the fact that they line up perfectly with the factory pipework and Turbo Charges. I haven’t experienced any knocking or vibration. I was hoping for a little more noise out of the back end, but I can’t really notice any change in the note. Looks like I will be investing in a cat back system and maybe some midpipes at a later date. The only thing that I haven’t seen mentioned before is the Downpipe to Turbo’s gaskets. I assume since nobody has mentioned them before that everyone just re-uses theirs. I made the choice to replace them, since its a pita to have to pull it all back off if there is a leak. Had I know about these prior to putting it in to have them fitted, I would have ordered them for $15 each from the states as opposed to paying $85each to get them from an Australian Stealership. I paid for the convenience of them being ordered at 4pm and being here the next day.
All in all, very happy with the product, especially for the price.

I installed the VRSF Down pipes the other day and tuned the car with the cobb stage 2 from the stage one. First impressions are that the car feels the same down low, and feels like it breaths better up top. spools faster and throttle a little more responsive. With the secondary cats also removed the car sound like complete shit with the stock muffler and midpipe. There isnt any drone and the car drives like stock until you go WOT.

After a while of living with the new installs, thought I’d post a quick update:
1) Kittyless DPs don’t make much more smell, unless you have windows open and are sitting idle, in which case you definitely smell them but it’s more of “I’m sitting in traffic and can smell a trucks fumes ahead” then “I just ran over a skunk”. In other words, not a big deal and only detectable in that idle/open window scenario for me.
2) The power is AWESOME – hit DTC once and let it rip, I can break the rear end loose even from a 30mph roll. My previous JB4/Meth only car had great power but no ability to put it down, the LSD+suspension mods make this car with similar power much more controlled, definitely highly recommended for spirited street driving.

I just had my VRSF downpipes installed tonight by AK Motorwerk and the fit was perfect. It took Kevin working alone only 90 minutes start to finish. It may have been quicker if the car wasn’t hot as hell from the drive over there. I was impressed from the minute I opened the box. They are very well constructed and the fit is perfect. They get pretty close together at one point but do not contact each other. I beat on it pretty good on the ride home and all is well. I have a DCI and JB4 on Map 5. Power was definitely increased and the sound is amazing coupled with the stock 335is exhaust. I highly recommend these pipes.

Install was completed on sat. Did it myself with no helper. I will make this short and to the point:
welds look decent inside and out
fit was PERFECT – better fit than I’ve seen on AA downpipes (plenty of clearance all around, aligned perfectly with my aftermarket exhaust, no problems mating up to the turbos)
where the downpipes reduce to 2.5″ is fairly gradual on the inside eventhough in some of the pics posted on the forum it looks very drastic on the outside
noticed a good increase in throttle response and power
conclusions: way better than raceland (shotty fit and only 2.5″)
better design and fit than PLM (aka giant dent downpipes)
better fit than some AA downpipes i’ve seen (AA nicer finish though)

The VRSF components have delivered, and the performance increase has been FANTASTIC.
I just had my VRSF 7″ FMIC and DPs installed, and it was basically a non-event. They went in easily, no real issues. My mechanic said it was just like pretty much any other DP/FMIC (and he’s done plenty), the DPs fit well and he only had to trim a little bit of the shroud for the FMIC and it’s very securely mounted. We had to adjust DPs once after road testing showed it was hitting subframe a tiny bit and causing massive vibrations in the cabin at low speeds, otherwise as plug and play as this stuff gets. Also dropped in the BMS DP Fix and that seems to be working great, but a few more miles are needed before I’m sure it won’t pop codes.
I’m not into having any compromises on my car, as it not only has me driving around aggressively, but I also carry kids to school and ferry customers to lunch and my wife even drives it. I can’t have odd noises, rattles, or reliability issues. So far, the VRSF components have delivered, and the performance increase has been FANTASTIC.

Hey guys so I ordered a set of VRSF 3″ downpipes and I finally got around to installing them today. Lets start off with the install, it took me about 3 hours to get it done but overall it wasn’t that difficult just a very tight space to work in I installed the band clamp in the wrong place so it was hitting the waste gate actuator and wasn’t boosting fully but I fixed that and its all good now. I drove it around for a few minutes to let it warm up and then found an open stretch of road and let it rip. Now that I have the band clamp installed right I can definitely feel the difference it sounds much better and the power feels a lot better as well. The sound at WOT is louder than stock but not crazy loud, a friend of mine has a really nice camera with a boom mic so I will take some video of it on Monday and post it up. I have to say that for the price these downpipes are awesome and I would definitely spend the money again.

All my expectations were filled
I’ll keep this short and to the point and try to answer all the known ?’s regarding DP’s.
First and foremost FIT , these are the first Dp’s I’ve installed , mind you I have 10 years GM dealership level tech experience so this is not my first rodeo. once i got the car up on jacks (i did these in my garage) i pulled off all the trim and removed the OEM pipes and got the new ones up and loosely fitted in the V-band , the flange of the new dp was true and flat as well as the rear flange , once both pipes were fitted i tightened the rear of both and the the v band and fit was perfect rite off the bat , no adjustments needed to be made what so ever !! O2 sensor bungs were well placed. install time for my first time with the pipes using all air tools was 2.5 hours ! not bad
Next lets do QUALITY , these are 304 SS polished SS good looking pipes too bad there not visible , welds are all TIG and well done as you can see in the pics clean on the inside as well flanges were flat and mating surfaces were smooth , the 1 and only dislike on quality were the bolts provided in the package were a little cheap they could have gone with a grade 8 bolt with a plating on them …. not that big of a deal to me !
OK …. how about SOUND !!! sound is great I’m running complete OEM exhaust other than the DP’s cold start and idle are “stock like” while WOT screams .. and at a stand still with small blips the turbos spool sound sick !!!
OK last is POWER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and man loving the new found HP and TQ , my performance mods ar JB4 , BMS filter , custom oil cooler and oil CC , and now these DP’s and the car was transformed pulled way harder on both map 5 and 1 and throttle response is almost instant !!!
So in conclusion i know that all my expectations were filled Price vs Performance and fit its all there with these ! I understand all my thoughts on these are what all of the quality 3″ pipes out there provide, but these do the same at much lower cost , if anyone is in the market for DP’s order these with confidence and you will not be disappointing.

I had my dp’s installed by local friend/forum member on Friday. Took a couple hours for him to complete. According to him, fitment was “almost” perfect. He did have to slightly bend the heatshield out the way, but this was only to make sure the dp’s didn’t rattle or hit against the shield while driving. May not have been completely necessary, but he did it based on his experience with various dp’s.
Upon start up, the idle of the car definitely changed. The sound is much deeper. I love it. When cruising through the gears, that deep throaty sound follows through the entire rpm, but it’s not loud by any means. I think it’s perfect. You can also hear the turbo spool.
On a sad note, it does amplify wastegate rattle significantly. I did not know my wastegate rattled so badly. The rattle seems to be echoed through the pipes.
As for the butt dyno review, I definitely feel more power down low and in the mid-range. Initially, I didn’t notice anything, but I was told to drive it 50 miles for the motor to adjust to the dp’s. After about 40miles of driving, boost seemed to kick in MUCH harder, especially in 2nd gear.
Last year, at the track in about 45-50* weather, I ran my best of 12.5@115 with a 1.8 ’60 (stock tires). My only mods were JB4 (map 7 w/103 octane) and BMS intake.
This weekend, at the track in about 75-80* weather, I ran my best of 12.1@116 with a 1.9 ’60 (stock tires). My mods to date are JB4 (map 3 w/103 octance), Helix intake, WW Meth kit, and of course, VRSF dp’s. With some DR’s or slick, I’ll definitely be in the 11s!
Over all, I LOVE THEM. Hearing the new exhaust note alone was worth the dp’s…lol

yeah i just installed mine yesterday and it literally took me 15 hours lol…only because i took about 100 breaks and i had to redo everything cause i put in the o2 sensors reversed.
so the car would shake and throw everything single misfire code lol.
but seriously if i had to do it over again it would take less than 3 hours. only took me 2 hours and 15 minutes to reverse the o2 sensors which i had to take everything out except the v clamps on the drivers side so only would have taken another 2 minutes to undo those.
i cant stress it enough….dont forget to put the o2 sensors in the right way lol.
so to the fitment…fitment was really really good. everything lined up so nicely and like where most people had problems with the v clamps taking so long with other brands. well not with this one…seriously it just closed right up like it was oem once you lined it up right.
just make sure you have some good tools though…some extra tools that comes in handy and this install and probably others would be a socket wrench that you can tighten and untighten with a turn of the wrench handle and also a universal socket that bascially turns 90 degrees in every direction. the wrench is for the passenger side heat shield (seriously that took so long to try to cramp my hand in there with a small socket wrench but my buddy told me that he had that special wrench and it was simple to do after that)
overall i am very happy with the dps…definitely hear the turbos spool now.

I installed these on my wife’s e92 this weekend in about 3 – 4 hours on ramps and jack stands. Perfect fitment, no rattles, and sounds much better. I’ve never seen the higher priced downpipes but even if they do look a little nicer it seems like a waste of money. You can’t see them on the car and these looked great anyway. Only reservation I had / have is the power. Haven’t seen dynos or track times on these but I can’t see how they would be any less effective than any other 3″ DPs.
Like most others, I hated spending $200 on Racelands that have 50% chance of fitting and are only 2.5″, didn’t want to spend $350 for PLMs that have a dent, might not fit and might rattle, and didn’t want to spend $600 – $800 for the nicer sets. Best value on the market!

IMO these have a great quality to cost ratio and I would definitely purchase again.
Great review; installed mine yesterday also. Fit was perfect, approx. 1/8″ between pipe to subframe & pipe to pipe. Turbo clamps went right on without any fighting or longer bolts as some have mentioned. The hardest part for me was removing (breaking) the original DP bolts & removing the upper O2 sensors (couldn’t find my O2 sensor socket, my wrench was a bit too long, & the front one was TIGHT). Had the car on ramps but jacked the passenger side up a bit so that I had more movement with the rack as tire would turn left to right depending on whether I was trying to reach in front of or behind it to better access. From start to finish it took just over 3 hrs with standard hand tools. Now hopefully the roads will clear up a bit so I can get it out for a test drive.
As far as the quality of these DP’s; are the welds all perfect? no. Will they pass hot exhaust gases efficiently? Yes. Items such as these that are of very good quality at a reasonable price are what makes the difference between purchasing them or not. In fact if the only option was cheap ill fitting DP’s or $800 DP’s I wouldn’t invest in them at all. IMO these have a great quality to cost ratio and I would definitely purchase again.

Downpipes are a mod that I have been wanting to do for a while now. I went ahead and ordered the new VRSF 3″ Downpipes after reading good reviews about them from others on here. Here is my review.
Price: Got them for $385.00 shipped from Tiago@VRSF. Need I say more? I won’t get into the debate about paying $800 for AR downpipes.
Quality: Package arrived well packaged. The pipes are very nice with very nice quality welds and clean bends. The inside is not as smooth as AR’s but are acceptable and pretty good. Also came with nice gaskets and all hardware.
Fitment: Great! I got my DP’s installed today by Adam (member “Clem” here on e90post). He is pretty much the “Go To” guy for anyone in the Maryland, DC, and Virginia area. He has done DP installs on about 25+ N54 cars here in the area… everything from AR, Riss Racing, Macht Snell, Raceland, and now VRSF. From his view, everything fit well and there were no issues. Although space was tight up there, nothing was touching each other.
Sound & Power: I have an OEM exhaust still. But with the added DP’s, it’s only a little bit louder. It’s nice that I can also hear the turbo’s spool a little better when the music is muted. I’ve only driven about 30 miles after the install but I can definitely feel quicker spool. I think the car is still getting used to the new downpipes. Hopefully tomorrow, I will feel it even more after the car gets used to it.
Would I recommend this product to anyone with an N54? Yes.

Quality: Welds are smooth, everything fit nicely, bolts seemed high quality. Gains: Butt dyno is reading off the chart! I’ll dyno it soon though to see what they actually are. Score: 10/10
The difference is freaking mind-boggling. The turbos spool instantaneously, the sound is exotic and intoxicating. I was initially worried that the sound would be too much, but it actually ended up being perfect. Throttle response is scary now, and the car feels even more amounts of stupid fast. One of the best performance mods I’ve done, up there with the JB4!
